Hi Lauren- I think your online Getting Started Guide is super! And I especially like the free updates. For the one I received today, you mentioned adding “styles”. What section are these styles in? Thanks.
Hey Ken! Thanks for the feedback on the guide.
The “styles” are referring to the style for my webpages and how they are displayed in internet browsers. By applying styles to a webpage you can really customize how a webpage displays and make it look a lot better. Remember, presentation is very important! The font, links, backgrounds, all come from the stylesheet.
The section of the guide that pertains to styles is the Setting up your Website part where I talk about the 2 free CMS that I recommend. Custom Style Sheets are included with both of theme and that is how you can make a Wordpress or Joomla page look so great, with very little coding.
I’ve simply applied in my style sheet for this Wordpress blog to my other pages (The Guide, My eBay About Me Page, and My eBay Classified Ad).
Thanks again for the feedback. If you need help setting up a site or applying some styles to some static webpages, I’d be happy to help!
Thanks Lauren for making this information available AND free. The credit card/bank account system you explain(forget which chapter) is a nice simple plan that for some reason nobody ever really thinks of.
I’m sure theres other similar ways to make money, perhaps I should start to think about them
Anyhow, nice work and thanks again.
Hey Matt,
Thanks for the feedback. The credit card / online savings account strategy (towards the end of the guide) is, like you said, a simple plan to put in place and can make us an extra couple hundred dollars or more on an annual basis. After all, every little bit helps!
@ Ken,
I figured I would create a quick guide to explain the styles I’ve been talking about, show some examples, and show you can do the same.

Hi Lauren - excellent guide, clear and concise, great resource! I’ve bookmarked the page and will sign up for the newsletter, as well.
I’m intrigued by your e-book idea but have one question - how are the affiliate links inserted in the book? Can you give an example? Are they in the form of graphic ads, or links in the text, or something else? - grateful for any clarification.
Alda,
Glad to hear you found the guide helpful!
If you’re using an ebook software package, like the one I mention in the guide, that compiles ebooks in .html format, adding affiliate links (text links or banners) to an e-book is very much like adding them to a website or blog. If you aren’t familiar with writing html code, no worries, you can use a editor like CoffeeCup or Dreamweaver to generate your ebook in html. An example would be the Getting Started Guide which is basically an eBook compiled in html complete with affiliate links. I’ve just published it here on my website instead of taking the final step and compiling it using ebook software. You can ‘right click’ in your browser and select ‘view source’ to see the code I’ve used to add in my affiliate links and banners.
If you planning on distributing your ebook in .pdf format, you can write your ebook in a word processor program and insert your links / banners. Open Office is one nice word processor program that is available for free and has an option to export to pdf.
Hope this clarifies some things. If you need help though, feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to work with you.
